Default What does one do with old waterpumps?

I have 3 old water pumps that have been removed from 944's... what does one do with these things? I hate to just throw out good chunks of metal... can they be recycled or what? Both new pumps I bought had no core charge or anything so...

Maybe you could sell them back for rebuild? Contact paragon maybe. I doubt you would get a full "core charge" back, but it is better than junking.

The 2.5 water pumps are not worth much as a rebuild...however the 2.7 / 3.0 pumps are pretty rare so you can get a lot more money for them.

I put one on eBay, made $20. Was barely worth the time.

If you don't owe it to someone as a core, junk it.

Or, get one of those cool see-thru coffee tables. Then add the following: water pump, rod bearing set, timing belt, ring and pinion, Hall sensor, heater clip, DME relay, OPRV, rear cam gasket, blower resistor and a sunroof gear. Name it "944 parts that work better than rubber nails"

Hello, Joe!

Hiding? Or, was I watching you the whole time?

Stop hijacking this thread! Wait, um, nevermind... this post also appears to be irrelevant.

Have two old pumps sitting in my basement also. Along with a bunch of other crap like a/c brackets and bumpers. Probably going to bring it to the scrap yard and get a few bucks for it one of these days .

Yep... the junk box of a 944 owner. I have all of the above, some more than once. Plus an old BBQ and a clothes dryer.

I'm starting to look a little ghetto in my yard... time to hit the scrap yard I guess.

I have an old waterpump too. Been reluctant to sell it because it's not worth much, but also reluctant to junk it because it still works.

I hear there are metal recyclers that will take this stuff. I guess scrap metal is more profitable these days.

At this point I should be either scared or flattered. I will choose to be scared.

I guess I just don't have much to say... well, except for now... since it appears I have too much to say... about this topic... which was... oh, yeah, I prefer the red ones to the silver ones. Wait...

Man, I miss you guys!

Skip all it takes is two mouse clicks to find out.

You have been gone a long time.

To get this post on topic...

Yeap metal scrap yards are probably the best for them.
