Default Refinishing phone dial rims

I have a set of 951 phone dial rims, and they need to be refinished. I was wondering if anyone has done a set that came out nicely, and could share some advice. Somebody did them before I got them and that job didn't last. I want these to look as new as possible. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Here is a link that I thought would be helpful when I was trying to refinish mine:

It ended up that the rims I bought were chrome, which is a PITA to remove.

I am personally about to take a set in for powdercoating. My local guy will do wheels at $35/each. Hardly worth my time to prep and paint when he will do them that cheap.

Besides, the set has already been painted once, and it only holds up ok... especially when used on track and cleaned regularly.

Let me know how the powdercoating goes, that's the route I'll probably take.
Also if anyone knows of a shop in this area that powdercoats (Boston, MA area) let me know.
Thanks
