There's a little bit about how I got the BJs done here

https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/321542-clutch-job-ball-joint-job-done.html

No drilling, no swearing. Well, not for the second one, anyway

Yeah - stark contrast eh? Actually I find this mechanical jiggery rather relaxing and focusing. Probably because my brain is the moneymaker in this family, and the fingers have to wait all day long just to get some action.

Lucifer Sam is a song about a cat that Pink Floyd did back in the Syd Barrett days . . . always liked how it rolls off the tongue.

1 other thing is at least with my Ball joints they were incredibly tight, not returning to center tight for about 1000 miles, keep that in mind when you get it back together. I was so concerned, I called Travis about it. Just one more FYI.

the 968 castor blocks are nice. Trying to get rid of a clunk, I replaced the castor blocks and the outer tie rod ends...clunk is still there, but man the steering is sooo much nicer now!

For the solid bushing kits we adjusted it back out a bit on the latest run. They were a .0005" interference fit and now they are a .00025" interference fit. (hold those tolerances with your HAAS.. )
They will still have a seating period but it should be a bit quicker now.

Omigosh!!!

I just had to get on here and tell everyone that a miracle has taken place!!!

I just completed the removal of both circlips on my control arms in under 5 minutes!!! I didn't need to drill anything or do anything crazy but use a vice to compress the ball joint and then use a small screwdriver to pick it out.

Lucifer_sam, you're crazy little drawings came to mine while I was pulling them out and everything went just as it should. Unfortunately I did break my mechanics pick in the process but who cares?!? I'm now ready to wash and rebuild!!!

Woo hoo!!!

Done!

I took my time making sure that everything is perfect. Even took a couple of breaks. So both completed in under two hours.

Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come while working on my car

Tomorrow morning I'll install them and put the tires on...

You can say that again. I couldn't hack it and ended up taking my control arms to a shop that removed them. Tip: make sure to reuse the original clips. They're much stronger than the generic replacements out there.
