Default Need starter / solenoid for my 968

Hi all,

By the sounds of things my solenoid is going bad and I need to replace it. Can someone give me some guidance on where to buy a replacement and how much I should expect to pay?

I cannot recall if the starter and solenoid are sold as one unit or available separately. I've seen prices around 150 plus a core charge on Pelican for what look like a combined unit. I've also seen some links/posts about a brand new unit from a chain (some delco unit), but I've only seen references to 944 and 924 for that one.

Thanks,

Phil

The 968 runs the "late" 944 starter. The early one is the large body one. The small body one is from the late cars, turbo, S2, 968 and I beleive the 924S as well. The large body should fit all cars except the turbo due to exhaust clearance issues. I'd go with the small body, they have better torque anyway. You should be able to look one up for a 87NA or 87 turbo at pretty much anywhere and it should be the one you need. Good luck
