85.5 carpet will fit in an 83 right?
or am I lying..
I was just curious if the gray carpet out of a later car would fit in my 83. I always liked the black on gray interiors, I was thinking I would try the look on an earlier car (not sure how it would turn out though).
With that out of the way, if it does fit, does anyone have any gray carpet? We could trade straight across for my black carpet as well.
I'll be painting the car dark blue in the coming months, I was shooting for the gray/black interior, black floormats, black recaro sport seats, rollbar, etc.

The main floor carpeting is the same, both pieces. The piece under the front seats and front foot wells, and the piece for the rear foot wells and tunnel. The hatch piece is interchangeable, as well as the 2 pieces on the sides of the trunk.
The difference from early to late is the passenger's right kick panel (for the late computer hidden underneath. I'm not sure if the driver's left kick panel is the same or different.
Then early cars have a few pieces late ones do not, like the piece around the shifter and the pieces on the door panel compartments.
What color do you want? Do you mean linen (very light beige)? I've never seen gray on a regular 944. However if you want to buy a brand new carpet kit, you can get any color you want.

I'm just looking for the main floor carpeting, hatch, and trunk pieces. I'm probably going to paint the door panels leaving the top half black and painting the lower half gray as they are in newer cars. I'll leave the arm rests black. Basically everything else in the car is going to stay black.

This might help anyone looking to buy carpet. Another good link to have in your favorites.

Post a pic of your "inspiration" interior... i.e. the color shades and theme you're looking to create and/or mimic. I'm just trying to visualize...

Just imagine a pre 85.5 dark brown/beige interior, only, everything that is dark brown is black, and everything that is beige is grey. It wouldn't look too good on a red car, but if I ever paint this one blue (which I'm starting to doubt), I think it would look pretty good.
