Rub Strip Removal?
My new 951 has rub strips.
On the driver's side the rear rub strip on the qtr panel is missing.
Are the rub strips stuck on with adhesive or are there holes and clips used?
I know for sure the smaller pieces are glued on, like on the front and rear fenders since my rear one is missing and I removed a front one from a 944 fender for my 924 CGTS.
What about the middle door section? I saw also that there is one screw on the door end, but what else? I am thinking about ditching the rub strips completely.

They are stuck on, except for the door that has the screw/rivot on the back section of the door. You can peel them off with no problem, but keep in mind the following:
The paint will be a little different looking under the strip since it has been protected from UV and other environmental issues.
And if a former owner had any paint repair work done to it, there may be a tape line on the strip so that when it is removed you have a paint step there.

Thanks jeremy, I'm not worried about the paint since I planned on refreshing that next spring.
Just didn't want to have to have doors filled or welded like on a 928 the rubstrips leave two 3/8 " holes in the doors. Silly 928s.

I took mine off. Just like Tifo said, adhesive and one little rivet on the rear of the door itself. I started pulling it off from the front end, when I got to that rivet it just popped right out of the door.
I then used a 3M eraser wheel on a drill to remove the adhesive material from the door. You can still see what almost appears to be black marker where the strip was, and I couldn't get that off for nothing. But with the dark color of my car, and that fact that it's a track car, you can't see it from a few feet away. If you will be painting anyway, no biggie.
Much easier to apply race numbers without them on!
