Default Oil pressure guage... AGAIN

OK when I rebuilt I put in a new pressure sender and for a little while it worked fine and read well 4-5 bar moving 2.5-3 idle.... all good etc etc.

Anyway after fixing a small oil leak because I messed up a seal when putting the engine back together.

Oil pressure gauge still worked after the oil leak fix and was a bit more consistent so I was happy.

Now the gauge only works whenever the damn it wants to. No pattern of when it works and when it doesn't.
The oil level is holding perfect, and I can hear the oil getting up to the lifters and quieting down about 3-4 seconds after I start it.
The light doesn't come on that says I have zero oil pressure, but the gauge just pegs to the bottom.
I know the connections to the new sender are good and tight and clean.
I've cleaned the grounds on the back of the gauge and everything seems to be in order back there.

Could the gauge itself be bad? Any ideas? The voltage gauge works perfectly, as do all the other gauges.

Thanks

Have someone sit in the car while you wiggle the wiring for the sender. Will at least hopefully tell you if it's a break in the wire or not.
