It's a bit of a bitch, but only if you're not the most competent with electronics. I would not recommend one of the ebay kits, as i don't think they come w/ a starter kill. The starter kill is the real thing you want; most people don't pay attention to car alarms anyway...

I just bought an alarm for my car with the status indicator LCD screen in the fob...good for up to 1/2 mile optimally. While it may not do hugely for the actual security of the car, it gives me the peace of mind at least.

But yes -- look for a starter kill, and i'd recommend paying the $45 to have someone else install it.

To give you an idea, my alarm has:

-- starter kill
--remote start
-- keyless entry
-- hood/trunk security
-- LCD status-indicator fob
-- ignition lock
-- anti-code grabber
-- the usual valet crap
-- and some other stuff i can't remember...

It cost me $250 installed; it is a Prestige unit. Worth it IMO; so far it's been great.

I helped my bud (who is more competent w/ electronics than I) install an alarm in his old truck and it wasn't too difficult; then again, it was an old chevy -- about as simple as you can get...

How does a remote starter work with a manual transmission?
