I like the look of that ebay one more than the DP44 Cargo pictured above. It says its and 81, but the interior is that of a 924, with the front bumper off a 951... The hatch looks like a DP design though... what gives? At least with the Dp Cargo ya know whats up.
Theres actually a pretty intresting story as to how the Dp44 Cargo came into existance, you know the history Devon?

In regards to the rest of the 924CGT-based wagons, they were built by Gunter Artz's German body shop "ARTZ". ARTZ built 20 or so of the 924 station wagons.
ARTZ also produced a few lengthened and widened VW Golf MK I's with a Porsche 928 engine and interior.

The one story i heard was that sports car had a high import tax in some country(cant recall now), while estate wagons/lorrys did not, so one solution for the owner on a dp44 was to have a 944 converted. Then it took on a life of its own.
The orange one above had the 3.0 variocam at the beginning, but then swapped for a 2.5 Turbo. They are now going back to the 3.0 S2 motor.

It's a 1981 2 Liter turbo with the front bumper that wasn't introduced until 1986? And it has the early dash. That thing is nuts. What a funky jumble of parts.
I'd rock it anyday. They'd freak out at the track when I arrived!
