Default Difference between 160mph and 180mph gauge pods?

It recently came up in the speedhut gauge face thread that they are designing the gauge faces around a 180 mph gauge cluster instead of the more common 160 cluster.

Aside from the obvious number differences, would it be possible to use a 180 gauge face with 160 speedo and have it show the correct speed? Or is there such a difference between the 180 and 160 units that you would only get the correct speed shown using the new faces if you have the 180 cluster?

Is it a simple adjustment of the needle position or is there a mechanical difference between the two?
