Hello all, I am looking to get a bra for the front of my 944 NA. I just had the front end repainted due to rock chips and I want to keep it looking nice. I just wanted to know what your opinions were on the fitament and longevity of the Colgan bra versus the OE Porsche Bra. Also how does each bra cover up the pop head lamp doors? Do they wrap around each one or do they have velcro flaps that have to be rolled up (do not want these)?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

I would have someone/put on some 3m transparent sheeting. Amazing stuff and hardly noticeable. I know it is not the answer you were looking for, but I didn't want you to put too much zinc oxide on your nose
and interrupt the wonderful lines of the 44.

I have a brand new Porsche bra for the black car. I've used it once but have to say it's more of a hassle than the benefit derived sometimes. It does prevent rock chips and bugs but I take it off after each run because I dislike the look...do not leave it on especially if parked outside and if it rains often in your area. The OE dealer bra is made by Colgan so you can't go wrong with an aftermarket Colgan or dealer. The 3M film is nice, pretty expensive, and works best on lighter colored cars and non-metallic paints IMO. It does change the sheen if you keep your car highly polished and is anything but 'invisible' if you park only outside or in the sun a lot. My bra allows use of all the lights and has fine mesh to keep bugs off of the radiator and intercooler.

Thanks for the comments guys! My dad has a 3M bra from the factory on his 2004 911 40th Anniv. I like the look of it and it makes it easy to get the bugs off. I checked a couple body shops that did 3M applications and all they had was for the Turbo and S2 nose and they wanted near $600. I have seen a business advertised in my local PCA region magazine called DRE at www.stoproadrash.com but their link is down. So I will have to call. My car is Gemini Gray Metallic.
I do not like the look of bras much either cause the ruin the line of the 944 but if it protects I will take it.

On the 3M sheeting, what surfaces does it usually cover. I am just painting the nose of my NA and thinking I might try to make up the patterns. I'm guessing the area around the emblem, but does that extend to under the headlight covers? And what about the bumper, should there be a strip along the leading edge of it? Bruce

I have a nice colgan bra with an embossed crest on it. It is for an NA I don't have an NA for street use any more. I would be happy to sell it. PM me if you are interested.
Here is a picture taken with bra on the car.

Clear rock guard costs a lot less than you might guess. On a new car at the dealer, it's very spendy, but the same guys that the dealers use will also come to your home and do it very reasonably. I had a couple of guys come do my 951 last year for about $300.

KLR, thanks for the input. I know the Napelton's Porsche here in Rockford has a guy that does this on the new cars. I will have to stop out and see what he will charge for the 3M clear bra.
Joe, I sent you a PM...thanks!
