Default Sticky Clutch Pedal

Once in awhile, my clutch pedal on the '83 won't come all the way back up. It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. The car is in gear ok, just the pedal doesn't come back up. It sits about 1/2 way until I put my foot under it and bring it up. I tried adjusting that return spring mechanism but I think it's more than that. Does this sound like a clutch problem or a slave problem?

It's likely a slave issue and I would start with a good bleed (air in the slave). I've had it happen and usually a good bleed makes it go away. Check the lines/slave/Mc for leaks.

Hey;

I would indeed try a bleed, but you'll be lucky if that is the problem. Check the clutch master cylinder under the dash to see if it is leaking. If you have not replaced the slave, and you don't know whether it was ever done, you might order one and do it. With a little luck, it is one of these three.

ewww. well, I guess I'll try a bleed first, r/r as a last resort. I'm going to be selling the car, but don't like to sell with known issues.
thanks

Strongly suggest new clutch master and slave cylinders. Ask me how I know, one day the clutch pedal went to the floor for good. I was in my farmyard at the time, so I was not stranded. I had been having indications for some time, the pedal felt funny, had to pump it, etc. Suggest replacing both at the same time, sure as anything the one working now will let go soon.

dang.. aren't you the jolly news boy!! lol.

I looked for leaks and didn't see any. Level is full too. I'll try a bleed and see what happens. If I have to, I'll do it all at once.

Make sure to check the hose that connects the master to the slave as well. I had one fail.
