Default start problem

my 86 turbo rarely starts on first try. if i crank it just once, turn the key back and then crank again it starts no problem. But if I try to start on first attempt it will keep on cranking and cranking and rarely catches. The only time it catches on first go is if its very very hot outside or if the car has only been sitting for less than 2 hours. Any ideas?

Speed reference sensor. Try swapping them, or replace one at a time with known to be good units. BTDT.
