I've got a broken "heater rod support mount" (part no 944.572.314.00) on my RHD 1991 S2... no biggie, I've got a replacement part on order to be mailed to me. Thanks to everyone who has posted here in the past on this subject, and to Clark's Garage http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/hvac-01.htm for the detailed instructions.
One thing I was wondering about was the terminology "plastic heater clip" that is generally used. On my car, there is a plastic "heater rod support mount", with a _metal_ clip (part no 944.572.217.00) that holds the rod in place in the mount.
Is the what everyone has, or are there some older cars with a _plastic_ clip that breaks, and the _metal_ clip is a supercession? Just curious. Perhaps "plastic clip" is just a shorthand way of saying "heater rod support mount"?
BTW, the instructions for a RHD drive vehicle are similar to a LHD car, except the mount/clip is located in the passenger's footwell, and that means taking the glovebox out for access. Five screws to unmount the interior glovebox "shell", slides out easily, no problem. But just thought I'd also post this tidbit in case anyone with a RHD car was scratching their heads trying to locate the mount/clip assembly using the LHD car instructions.
Cheers,
-Mark
