Default door replacement

I just picked up a color-matched driver's door that I'd like to install in place of the current one on my '87 944. The current one looks ok, but it's sporting some less than perfect bodywork. Can the window and the metal support it rests on be transferred as a unit? I'd rather not remove the window from this support since I've read that it's glued in place and is a PITA to remove. My goal is to just transfer all of the internal workings and interior panels to the new door, so any other guidance is also appreciated!

Thanks,
JV

If you push hard enough with a breaker bar (CAREFULLY!) or similar, you can pop one of the wheels off of the windows support. At that point, you can work it out of the mechanism.

When you get it into the new door, find a small set of vice grips or similar and clamp it back on (it goes on a metal ball that almost looks like a zirk fitting - and its TIGHT.

If what I've said makes no sense at all, I'll look for some pictures.

I get the idea. Which one of the wheels should I remove, or does it matter? (funny checkboxes in your sig BTW!)

I've had good luck wihth the front one, as the mechanism has adjustment in the back - you'll see where it bolts up to the inside of the door.
