Im very flustrated. Is there a special tool to remove to top screw on the cover to get to the heater clips ??? I got the bottom no problem but I cannot get a screwdriver on the top. Theres a black black tube running across it and I cant get it and im roasting.

What year is your car?

I don't remember needing anything special for my '87.

I had the same problem.

I just worked the screwdriver in there and got it out. Took a good 20 minutes to get it done.

When I got the cover off to look at the clips, they were new!

I still have yet to put that cover back on.

That is the problem b/c I popped the bottom screw out and a piece of the plastic clip fell out. But that darn screw still wont budge. I just went out and bought an angled screw driver still no dice.

My next idea is just to break the cover

don't break it. There's gotta be a way.

Try putting the bottom screws back in, then try the top again.

IIRC, when I removed the cover I used a stubby phillips and it was no problem.

Ha ha its done !! The top screw was stripped out. I had to slightly break it to get it off but when I put it back on it hold fine with just that bottom screw.

The one clips towards the front was good but the other was bad. And no more Heat !!! Problem solved !

Looks like somebody got in there before you! BTW, did you get the revised plastic clip with the little metal cover that holds it all together?
