Default Engine Rebuild Roadblock

Ok I am having some trouble removing the connecting rod caps so I can view if there is any damage to the crank at each spot. Odds are I will be taking the whole crank out, but for now I need to do this so I can pull the pistons/rods out and check everything out to see if I should be looking for a new block. So yeah I got all the nuts off, but the caps refuse to move. Any tips on freeing them up? I don't want to damage them and I am being VERY careful with this rebuild.

Strange. Mine took a little bit of manpower and pulled free. I suppose you could get a small piece of wood and place it on the rod cap and hammer it firmly, but not to slam the hammer onto the cap so hard you damage it. This could wake them up a little more and make it easier to remove.

Take your small plastic mallet in your right hand and the rod cap in your left.
Tap on one rod bolt as you pull upward on the rod cap.

That's funny Jim! I've been doing it the same way for many years and have never heard anyone say this. Either you are as dumb as me or we're are both brighter than the average cold brick. And yes, works great. Whatever you do don't pry on the cap with anything.
