Default oil leak- with picture

http://www.duke.edu/~wag/P1010008.JPG

The car leaked like this when I bought it, drenching pretty much everything on the passenger's side of the car, making everything a pain to work on.

I took it to my mechanic, who diagnosed the oil cooler seals (I had not had symptoms of oil in coolant or vice versa) and replaced them.

Well it sat i the driveway about a week, and then I came home and drove it to where I work on it (15 mins away) to put in my control arms, and the above picture is what I saw. Exactly the same leak it used to have. Could someone please help? What is letting oil escape?

Check your oil filter. I ran across te same thing on my 86. The PO had the oil changed at a Walmart.

Possibly the seals related to the front of the camshaft. Clean it off and start the engine for about 10 minutes without driving the car to see where the oil just starts coming from. You already have a mess of oil so determining where it starts from may be more difficult. Driving the car blows the oil around and makes diagnosis hard.

Well it isn't the oil filter. It leaked with the filter I bought it, it leaked with a genuine porsche, and now it leaks with a Mahle. I'll check the cam tower. The mechanic cleaned it up to find where it was coming from and the big bolt with the red dots (I don't know where the dots came from, weren't on there before) is where it looked like it was coming from.

Check the the whole cooler/inlet area for cracks or seal leakage.

I basically did a whole front seal replacement including the cam housing seal rebuild and that took care of that leak. It was exactly like yours. Might as well change the belts too.

You know I actually am pretty sure the front seals were replaced with the water pump and belts about 3k miles ago. I think the problem is that my mechanic sucks and I should have known better than to not do it myself in the first place.

At least then I would KNOW that I had broken it.

So if it is coming from the bolt with the red dots then it must be super lightweight oil because there is oil ABOVE that bolt. Oil doesnt leak up. So either there is something else leaking above that bolt AND the bolt is leaking OR the bolt is leaking AND one of the oil filters leaked when you changed it. By the way the big bolt is the oil pressure regulator.
