Hello everyone, I just picked up an 87 944 last week and everything worked on the car. After I got home, I took off the sunroof, and when I re-installed it, the elements did not operate to lock the rear part of the roof.

The sunroof motor and microswitches all work fine. I notice the drive cable inserts and retracts as per the manual. I have ordered the two little plastic drive gears for the drive assemblies in the roof.

Am I missing anything? What causes the elements (guides) to engage? Do I have to disassemble the entire drive assembly and remove the drive calbe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sooner or later, its going to rain.

Thanks alot! I took apart the assemblies in the roof this afternoon, and both gears were stripped. I'll be sure to get an extra set soon.

I hope to reinstall evrything this Saturday.
