I'm looking for some old model Blaupunkt CD players that play MP3s. I'm not too fond of the new models and I dont' want anything artsy fartsy in my track car. I'm just looking for something older, preferrably new or like new that plays MP3s. I would prefer a Blaupunkt so I don't have to rewire the 944. Anyone know where to buy old car stereos at?

I have found some on ebay. You won't have to rewire your car if you get a new cd player. I'm not much of a fan of the Blaupunkts. I am actually looking at this model: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...273636,00.html as a placeholder until the player I am waiting for actually comes out: http://www.xplodsony.com/video/av_centers/MEX-DV2000.
All the wires you need are already running to the location. You'll have to do a little testing to distinguish the 11 wires you need: 8 for the speakers, 2 hot (one constant and one acc), 1 ground. Pretty much all after market head units come with these in a standard color configuration: speakers: +&- in purple, green, white and grey; hot in red and yellow; ground in black.
You could probably do this swap in an hour if you have no previous experience. You need some wire strippers/cutters and some connectors. I like the ones that have male/female ends that you can connect and disconnect easily. They can be found at pretty much any hardware store like a Home Depot or Lowes.

Crutchfield sells the harness for the 944. Its around $20.
I could be mistaken but, I don't believe there is a constant power feed in the factory radio harness. You may need to run one if you want the new radio to hold clock setting and radio station memory.

Yeah, Midwest Electronics handles the Bosch/Blaupunkt reman head units and speakers... in fact, they just rolled out their latest employee clearance - a number of MP3-capable units on there, and some speakers... coolest of all, they even have some of the ultra-thin 10" and 12" subs! I'm gonna have to line up for a new head unit or two... cars are needing...
And no, I'm not getting any for anyone here, before you ask!

my brother has a blaupunkt MP3 player that he is interested in selling. Was used in the 944 for about 9 months before I bought the car from him and switched stereos; making it about 4 years old.
