In seven-and-a-half years, I've had two comp claims. One 6 years ago, one two weeks ago. Both times, my claims were delayed in order to have a "Special Investigator" interrogate me and weigh-in on whether or not the damage is covered.
6 years ago, my 1987 944 was vandalized (keyed, kicked, etc.) and the investigator implied that maybe I vandalized my own car in order to get a free paint job. NOT.
Two weeks ago, my concours winning 1991 944 S2 was caught in one of those farmland dust devils that hurled pebbles and other debris in the path of my moving car. This incident broke a foglight and etched the other. It left stone chips in the paint through to the metal on the hood, nose and fenders. The lower valance paint is worn through to the primer and one of the turn indicators is cracked.
The adjuster says all this damage is due to "normal wear and tear" and also said that, because my policy was new as of last December, he had to escalate it to a special investigator.
I've had the same policy for 15 terms (7.5 years). The only change to that policy was when I switched from my '87 944 autocross beast to the newer '91 944 S2 concours queen on June 1, 2006.

That sucks, I've never had a problem with them. My 924 got totaled about 3 years ago and they were very prompt and paid a pretty good sum once I showed them some pictures and receipts.

I've had 6 claims with them, and never had a problem.
1) Truck drove over my car (pretty scary, but no serious injuries). Totaled the car & had a check for a little more than I had paid for it the year before within a very reasonable amount of time.
2) Broken windshield. Didn't even have to call, windshield company took care of it.
3) Spun out & hit gaurdrail in snow in the 944. Wanted to total the car (needed a fender, valence & header panel), but after a phone call and a quick scan of autotrader they cut a check for the repairs. Gave no grief when I requested a second check to cover the remainder of the balance either (estimate was low).
4) Hit large debris dropped off a truck & damaged fender, valence, header panel & iceshark light while on vacation 1000 miles+ away. Wired me money same-day, sight unseen, to have a shop "tape it together" well enough to get it home, at which point they paid for the repairs in full without any hassle. Even paid for aftermarket iceshark headlight & fiberwerks front valence. Got a check for the deductible a few weeks later when they were able to track down the truck that dropped the debris.
5) Car caught fire while in shop for #4. Paid to have a specialist redo the wiring harness and replace a few plastic items damaged. No hassles at all.
6) Another broken windshield, once again didn't even question it.

For those of you that have made claims, how much did your premium increase? I have this coverage but never thought of making a claim if something minor say a cracked lense happened. I figure the increase will cost more than if it came out of my pocket.
