951 No Start- suspect DME relay
my 951 has been slowly getting harder and harder to start.
i would originaly have to crank it for ~10 seconds before it would start up. during those 10 seconds, at first, i would get 0 tach needle bounce for maybe 8 seconds, then the last 2, it would start to bounce a little then it'd start right up.
the time would get longer, or i'd have to do try cranking at 5-10 sec intervals a few times before the needle would start bouncing, then it'd start.
if the needle absolutely would not bounce, i'd remove the DME relay, try to start it again, no tach bounce at all, then replace the relay and it would start right up.
this morning i spent like, 10 minutes out there trying to get it to start, removed the relay, and now- the tach needle only bounces when i'm cranking when the DME relay is removed.
wtf is happening?
edit- dont think it's a cold start issue since it's been happening after i leave work as well, although it wont make me get out and remove/replace the DME relay. it'll just crank for a few seconds, then the tach will bounce, then it will start.

How old are your speed/reference sensors? With no tach movement, I'd suspect they may be dying.
ETA: With fresh sensors, fresh battery cables and lightweight flywheel/pressure plate, my car cranks for less than 1/2 second. zzzingVROOOM

that's how it usually is.
no idea how old the reference sensors are.
would they just be on/off like that?
what would make the tach move once the DME relay is removed, but not when it's in?
then the whole thing just magically goes away??
