Unhappy Help a Nube with a no start

Ok, before I get yelled at, I did search, but didn't seem to find my exact prob. I have an early 85 944, and just did a timing belt, head, gaskets, plugs, cap, rotor, ect. I've only had bits of time to work on her, and got the motor all together last month. She started fine, and purred. She sat for the last month, and I had a few extra hours yesterday, and finished buttoning up things, and went to start her. And go figure. I can't keep it running. She will crank, start and immediately cut out and die. I checked all the regular stuff, DME, I even jummpered it. The only odd thing that I can notice, is it seems that fuel is coming out only when I'm cranking the car over, and when I stop cranking, the gas doesn’t come out very fast.
Any Pointers?
Thanks
Norm

Check for Vacuum leaks...I just went thru a series of these where a intake tube popped out and my intercooler tube went undone. Vaccum...Vacuum....Vacuum!

Along with checking your vacuum lines, be sure to check your spark plug wires wher ethey connect to your distributor cap. If you have them connected wrong your engine can go anywhere from not starting, to idling extremely roughly because you'll be running on two cylinders to well whatever..

Your wires should be connected to the rotor as follows, the numbers indicate each spark plug each wire should go to. Starting at the bottom left..

4-2
3-1

Hopefully thats all thats wrong with it, and welcome to Rennlist!

I know you didn't mention it but make sure the AFM is plugged in. I spent an hour to figure that out once.

Perhaps you should check that you are getting adequate fuel and that the vacuum regulator is working correctly. Included with the stuff above - that should pretty much cover everything.

thanks guys, I'll check out this stuff tonight, the thing that kills me is it started and ran! very well! I will check for vacuum leaks... I did replace all the vacuum hoses. I know that the plug wires are where they are supposed to be.... and the coil is working too.. The AFM is plugged in too... well, off to find a ghost!
