Aluminum welding
Is there anyone here who can weld aluminum? Or knows someone that can at a reasonable price. I have two Mocal oil coolers with broken fittings that I was hoping might be repairable for less than a new one would cost.

Might be possible to braze them cheaply and easily, I have repaired radiator necks this way. Any custom bicycle frame builders in your area? Otherwise there are likely to be some welders who can do it but the setup cost might be significant.

That and aluminum welding is a little tricky in a dirty (oil rich) environment (potential for pin hole leaks).

Ok, here are some pics of the oil coolers. The first one leaks around the circled fittings, and if you can't see the problem with the second one, you probably have bigger problems than I do. Any ideas on if these can be saved for a reasonable price?

Welding aluminum is not too hard. There are some prep things but other than that it ain't rocket science.

Depending on how thick the bottom plate is, it does not look to hard. you should just call around to some local welding/fab shops and get it priced out.
