Which model 944 uses the least oil?
My father uses the 944S2 as a daily driver, but it's a very short commute through the city.
I keep Mobil 1 5W-50 lubricant in both cars, but I've noticed that although neither car has any leaks, the S2 uses virtually no oil at all between changes. It's surprising, really. The 951 uses a little more, but nothing major, although it's obviously due to the turbo itself. I also remember my 83 used about 1 quart every 1K miles.
Comparing different 944 models and assuming they have no leaks, is the S2 the model that uses the least amount of oil between changes, or does it depend on each individual car?

My 87 NA uses virtually no oil. It has 108,000 miles on it today. It does have a bit of seeping at the oil pan and it looks like the back of the cam housing seeps just the slightest bit. I'd have to say that I uses about 1/3 of a quart in 3000 miles. I blame it on the seeping.
NA in good condition should use almost no oil.
S and S2 should be in the same boat, maybe a little more because of more moving parts.
Turbo will use the most for obvious reasons.
There are some exceptions which include driving style, upkeep and maitenence. These will cause various oil consumptions.
High RPM uses oil for instance. Engine runs hotter, moves faster and will eat up some oil in the process. This is why I say an S or and S2 with the DOHC will probably use a little more oil because of the power band being higher in the RPM and having to rev higher to make power.
Just my opinion and observation.
