Question klunk/bang noise from the front suspension

I sometimes get a rather loud bang from the suspension, especially when straightening after a turn at low speed. Also when I lift the car asymmetrically, e.g. the front left, it makes this "bang".
Last time I checked, I couldn't find any play in the suspension.
I wonder if it's possible that the strut nut that holds the shock insert got loose, and the bottom of the shock insert swings inside the strut housing?
comments?
thanks.

I might look for a worn out sway bar bushing especially that front passenger side one as they get bathed in power steering fluid.

Check the large nuts on the top of the struts. Could also be the inner tie rod socket or the A-arm bushings.

Could be the ball joint popping. When they get old and really worn they can get out of shape. Might be time to purchase a rebuilt control arm.

I got the same thing from the rear control arm bushing being worn out / torn.

I get the exact same klunk and I fear ball joints.

If it's not ball joints or the top strut nut, make sure the large "nut" that holds the strut cartridge is tight. Mine came loose. I would have never figured it out unless I had a friend also take a peek at that. Everything else was tight.

that's exactly what I suspect. Is there any way to tighten this nut without removing the spring, e.g. a special tool, a thin pipe wrench, a rubber-boa tool?
thanks guys for the other suggestions too - I checked those before, and they felt OK. The upper strut mount makes some noise too, but I don't think it's THE noise.
Funny thing, today is warmer, and I can't hear a thing!
