Default Removing Steering Wheel "Help"

So I'm removing the steering wheel.. (OE 1986) and it seems like if I turn hard enough I'm going to break something.... do I have to do something like fiddle with the steering column.. (i.e. disconnect something prior to removing the actual wheel?

? Its just a single nut under the horn pad. The wheel itself just slides onto a splined shaft
