Default Handbrake cable snapped....

Hi,
My handbrake cable snapped just behind the handle where is goes into the body thru tube. I bought a complete cable set off Ebay. Do I need to change the cables all the way back to the wheels or can I just change the front section up to the coupler that ties the left and right sides together? It is kind of difficult to see how the coupler works.

Thanks

The long cable runs from the handle to the passenger rear (IIRC) and the short cable from the "yoke" (coupler?) that is located mid-way along the long cable. You would have to replace the entire long cable as a minimum. For this you will need to remove the rotor on that side and disconnect the cable end from the actuating "scissors" at the bottom where the two parking brake shoes meet.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember if it is the right or left side rear that has the long cable attached by chance?
