Anyone in the Twin Cities have a DME I could try? It has the keyhole for an alarm, but neither of my keys will turn in the cylinder.

hmm, any alarm gurus? I had some issues with my alarm and rusting, completely killed the car.

This same situation happened to me, it turned out to be the speed and reference sensors, plus the DME.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for ALL your suggestions as to what could have happened! It turned out to be so much simpler than any of us could have imagined! Probably would have cost me quite a bit at the shop to figure it out too!

So I finally got frustrated and was putting everything basically back together to get it towed over to my shop, when I came to the distributor again. I realized that I had not unscrewed the setscrew on the rotor when I took it apart (didn't even strike me as odd when I disassembled it since I was getting a spark at the plugs I wasn't really paying attention to that). Lo and behold, the setscrew had come loose and was sitting on my garage floor underneath my car. It's pretty small, so I hadn't noticed it in my multiple trips under the car. Anyway, screwed that bad boy back in and VROOM! I feel kinda stupid, but I guess I should feel lucky that I got away with a nominal tow fee and a couple beers worth of frustration! Shop might have taken a couple hours to get to ruling that out! Anyway, I would suggest to everyone that they check that little setscrew and even throw a dab of locktite on it.

A dab of locktite is just that little extra step that will keep things where they belong. Just ask they guy who lost his AC compressor last week.
