Default Shift lever circlip...what size?

Ya know that tiny little circlip that holds the linkage onto the shift lever? I seem to have...um...well...it's missing. I need a new one quick. What size is it?

Thanks John! I'll check out the usual Home Depot/Lowes/etc., hopefully one of them carries it. I'll buy a couple extras as well.

Just what I needed, thanks! Even 12 years later, still helping people.

a missing clip might be an indicator of worn shifter bushings. Good time to upgrade to short shifter!

I've heard great things about short shifters - but I just got this car on the road Saturday (for the first time in, as best I can tell, 12 years) so for now, just being able to test drive it without wrapping my pinky around the shift rod to hold it onto the shift lever would be nice.

For a minute, I actually considered duct tape... but so far (knock on wood) this resurrection is 100% duct tape free.

I had a short shifter on one of my S2s. I had to pause between 1 and 2 on the track because the synchros werent up to snuff and the car had 70K miles. I would stick with stock and get the bushings etc. tightened if not tracking the car.

Oh man, CONGRATS! That is a huge accomplishment!
I also had a cir-clip pop off while driving say 3 months after buying my 944. The local sheriffs pushed my car out of danger and I went to the local auto supply store and grabbed a bunch in the approx. size (it was nice it isn't a rare thing. After that I always kept a spare cir clip in the glove compartment

I just got a new to me 1986 994 running for the first time in 12 years today as well. It's shifter circlip is also missing, and was the main reason for the car being parked. Very cool!

The only944 shift lever eliminates the need fro the circlip.
Might be worth a look.
