Question Question on balance shaft seals

I'm doing a refresh on a 951 motor at the moment. Are the caps (seals?) at the rear of each balance shaft housing supposed to be loose? I'll be resealing everything but wondered about this before I tear them down.

i was told that is because the o-ring that sits inside there is deteriorated... but if you are doing a new one, maybe it is like that regardless, i noticed mine when i noticed a bunch of JB weld on the lower shaft in that spot to "fix a leak" (i have a receipt for that one....) and i was advised just put Red RTV silicone on the top where i was also leaking, since i just put the front all back together when i noticed it.

The odd thing is the BS weren't leaking at all. I guess when I reseal them I'll know for sure if they should be loose or not. Does any know what size and type socket the rod nuts take.

13mm? Cheeseshead? It's not a hex head and doesn't look like a Torx. The same nuts are used with the new ARP head stud set.

The seals should be tight. When you put new ones in, the End Plug will not move around.

Thanks Dmitry. I'm still not sure on the con rod nuts; a 12pt 13mm is too small and a 14mm 12pt seems too loose to be used for accurate torquing. Maybe I'm just being paranoid about the fit
