2007 Taj Ma Garaj Road Trip *June 23rd*

Anyone who headed east on 35 to 675N (?) probably saw this just a few miles out. It had traffic backed up for miles and the road closed (eastbound) when I passed at noon, and it was still there 3ish on the way out. While I certainly don't wish harm on any car, if one has to crunch this is a very good candidate. I hope the officer is OK. The RF tire was folded under, which might match that artwork on the bridge, but the skid starting near the cone tells a different tale. The Highway patrol car was the only one that I saw with damage, the skids make me think there was probably another but it was already gone. If anyone catches a report in the paper I'd be interested to read what happened.

I saw this coming back from the London Cobra Show. Glad I was heading westbound.
Hope you guys had a great time at JDs hacienda. I will have to get over there soon to see the recent 'mods.' I'll say this, when JD does something, he doesnt half-*** it.

When we went by there at @ 11, there were about 8 cop cars, in various locations about the crashed one, a civilian truck of some sort, and a few of the cops looking over the side of the road, away from us...couldn't see anything of course. Even then, the traffic was backed up for a couple miles.
I'd have to guess that there was a fatality, if it was still closed at 3!
If I see anything in a paper, I'll report on it....

Thanks, Paul. (were you there Sat?)
The news clip tells of a female Trooper who got cut off on her way to an accident scene. Nobody was killed. There is probably room here for a joke about female drivers, a rant about officers speeding to a scene, or driving too fast "because they can". As much as I am tempted, I'm not going to make any assumptions. I will say from experience most drivers aren't expecting vehicles approaching from the rear at a high rate of speed, and our laws DO require vehicles to move over to give a buffer to stopped safety vehicles. I could see how a truck could fixate on an accident ahead, need to move left per the law, and miscalculate the rapid closure rate from the rear.

i know this is slightly off topic and will **** off all the pcar Gods, but Sam needs to keep those rims on his horseless carriage. there i said it.
they are so choice. if all of you have the means, I highly recommend picking a set up.
im giving everyone a solid C- on the pix front. I was expecting a national geographic sized expose' here. I cant imagine JD confiscated all of your cameras.
megapixel schmegapixel!

Yea, we did kind of drop the ball on the Pix, didn't we? For starters, I wanted to respect Mr. D's privacy. I wouldn't walk through someone's home and take pics to spread all over the web, some degree of discretion is needed. On the other hand, he does list his inventory on the web and gives frequent tours, so there is a lessened degree of expected privacy. The cars are not exactly what set this place apart from all other collections I've seen, it was the surroundings. We've all seen GT3's at dealerships, and shiny beetles and 356s. To me, a 930 is a 930, even if it has 1 of 2 color matched wheels ever made. That is all cool, but not what makes it extraordinary. What had my jaw on the floor was the layout, the decor, the hospitality, the accessories and related toys and trinkets. That said, I'll pass on the GT3 and 924GTS pics, and show you some of the atmosphere. Also, the lighting in some of the areas was horrible for photography-but added to the ambiance. Chris, if you can't figure out how to resize images you are in the wrong line of work.
Now for some pics-

The credo on the wall behind the bar had several of us laughing out loud. If you can't read it in my pics, it is on their web page here: http://www.tajmagaraj.com/foolery/philosophy.php
Upon reading his #1 rule, I knew I really liked the guy:
"1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night. "

I have come to the realization that my camera sucks the big one...had a great time at the Taj, just got back from my trip to Missouri afterwards. Thanks to Sam and Antonio and everyone else for chilling and for letting me join the caravan to Indy. Some great cars and some fun times. Here are some pics of Taj and the rest of the trip as well.
Basically, I went to Ohio to visit my mom, dad, two sisters and my brother. Then made my way to Taj, then to Missouri to meet back up with a girl I haven't seen in eight years. In Illinois, I thought I was going to die as I came in contact with a tornado (first time on that) but thankfully it was on the ground for around 15 seconds and was VERY small. I caught a pic of the funnel cloud as it dissipated.
Also, did anyone else notice the Ambiguously Gay Duo pic on the mural at Taj? I HAD to get a pic of that one....lol
Shot of NC from a mountain in VA
Gotta love a town named Bland (on a side note, I also found a town called Santa Claus..)
My youngest sister Briana and my adopted brother Trey
My oldest sister (now pregnant) Christina
My brother Nick
My dad
The Indy crowd
The funnel cloud
