In a crash, it's sparks you have to worry about.
Look, experienced, competent auto engineers are highly confident in their fuel systems' integrity and sometimes even they are shown wrong in spite of their careful analysis and massive testing. And they aren't doing silly things like routing a fuel line in a crumple zone. Your confidence doesn't really factor in I'm afraid.

Please rethink.
