Hey,
On a 1986 944 N/A, how much slack should be in the throttle cable? It seems like there may be too much in mine. Is tightening it to taut going to hurt it any? It seems like there would be some benefits to that.
Sorry if this question is too simple. I just never knew.
Thanks.

It's a good question. It should be tightened until the throttle won't close all the way and then back off until it is closed (to the stop screw). What you do is listen for the click from the throttle position switch (TPS) which is the black thing under the throttle body with a wire going to it. If you open and close the throttle (by hand), you should hear the TPS click when the throttle is closed all the way (it will click again when you open the throttle too). If the throttle cable is too tight it you won't hear the click when the throttle closes.
