Default I'm leaving the fold...sort of

A week from today, I will be picking up my 2000 996 C2. I never thought I would want a 911, but after seeing and driving the 996, I changed my outlook.

This also means I will be selling my trusty white S2 - not sure on price yet though.

After all these years of owning a 944, I still smile when I look at one. They are really cool cars. I just want something a little more comfy, and a little more refined. Who would have thought that would mean a 911!? Maybe that's why 996's are so reasonably priced now?

I'll still visit this forum to check in with old friends, but probably less often. Thanks to everyone who answered my annoying questions - hope to be at the next NNJR hot dog meet, even with my 996!

Andy

Hey Andy

Congrats on the 996! I was just looking at these on ebay thinking hmmmm....but I'll have to wait for my day-care bills (two kids..$24k/yr!) to go down before I consider another toy! If you have any S2 spares....keep me in mind!

best

Joe

Don't forget to go for a joyride in a 951 before taking the 996 plunge...

Nah, that would only compound the problem of addiction to these old cars that nag us with occasional problems.

Best to you and your new ride!

You'll be back. They all come back. Except this guy named James Caan who owned a white 944. And he'll be back.

Details Andy Details!! PM me with the nitty gritty. Congrats!!

if you are showing up saturday bring the rotors please.

For all interested, Andy's car was very clean when he got it, and he cleaned it up a lot since he got it. He is nuts about small details.

Now there are two S2s on this board for sale. Andy's is cleaner than mine, mine has less miles than Andy's.

Andy, want a set of mint D-90s for the S2?

You wuss, you've gone over to the dark side. And I can't believe your wife let you pull this off. Enjoy the wine and cheese crowd, I'm sure we won't be seeing you at Rutt's any longer.

Thanks guys!

Won't be having much wine or cheese, but I know what you mean! The 911 crowd is older, and richer (usually).

Thanks for the plug Tom - and I already have a spare set of powder coated D-90's to go with the car (or, sell to someone who wants a set). The Cups are staying on the car!

Funny, real 911 people don't think our 944's are "real" Porsches, and, the same people don't think a 996 is a "true" 911! Guess I'll never belong!
