Default Sunroof problem refuses to go away

After being dry for years, my 944 sunroof started leaking about 18 months ago.

I cleared out the drain holes as advised, but I still get water in the cabin and under the headlining even in a brief shower. I've cleaned the seals but they seem designed to 'weep' as they have a rough surface. I've been warned off replacing the seals on the basis that I'm more likely to do harm than good and it will cost me money.

I'm looking for some wisdom here. Should I replace inner/outer seal? Should I look elsewhere for the source of wetness?
