Default Another testament to 944 build quality

My uncle was leaving our house this afternoon, ironically after helping put away our new 2-post vehicle lift. Heading home, some woman coming towards him lost control of her car and sideswiped him (?). All I know is the door glass was smashed. He's fine, otherwise I wouldn't be posting. I never thought the doors were that strong in these cars, but I guess they are.

It was an '87 944S with ~70k miles, no head-on hit to the engine and trans, immaculate 8-way power seats, etc. It's a shame, he just put it on the road for the start of DE season, and the car was inspected- great mechanical shape.

I'll finagle a deal for a parts car if I can.

Oh, and Northeast guys- you might not want to drive in this storm.

dibs on the seats!

my '84 got backed into by a drunken hick's bronco.

damage = door and a dent in the fender.

of course, his car just had paint scuffs, but whatever.

My brother's was a victim of a hit-and-run in the back; there's lots of dents.

I'm sure it'll buff right out. :P

Actually, he wants a driver's ed/DD car, and my 83 is perfect for that. The S was honestly too nice to race. I'd sell him mine and save for an S2. We do have a Volvo sitting in the driveway that I could use until then...

He's already said he's getting another, guess I got him hooked when I let him try mine...

What kind of suspension on the car? I would be VERY interested if he's willing to part it out. I have an 88S

I want to buy it if I can work a deal, then I'll part it. He's more into PCA than the list.

He got the car 2 years ago and promptly put new Koni yellow inserts up front. Don't know what the rears are. He has Rennbay's second beefiest balljoints installed, and stock swaybars. He also went to the trouble of getting new power steering hoses, so it doesn't leak at all.

Update- my uncle found an S2 coupe just listed in the paper, so that's his now. Insurance is 99% sure they're totalling the S because of a buckled floor by the alarm, and it'll be mine to part out if they offer it for a price I agree to.

My mom is laughing about how the place is going to be a 944 garage in no time. We won't be convincing her to get rid of her Volvo, though.
