PorscheDoc - get a lathe or two and I will come up there. We can combine business and go to town.

I'm serious btw.

Interesting.....I've never been to your website. Pretty cool. I may need a set of hatch pins. If I recall correctly, ETD 150 is similar to a 4140 type of material. Well....I guess similar to a 4100 series type of material.

Very very interesting. Here are a few pics of the machines we have....

Brand new Studer S33 CNC OD/ID grind

A couple new Daewoos we've added to the mill department

Yeah, I treat ETD like 4140 or something like that. It has a hardness of 32C, but it's really not bad to work with - I kinda like it.

I can't believe your boss lets you do that for free. What a cool guy. I would expect him to want a cut of the profits. Or charge you rental time. At my job, they don't even like you surfing on Ebay during lunch. I think they're afraid we'll wear out all the bits in the computer.

Well, when I approached him about doing this - I offered to pay whatever fee he wanted to use the machines. He told me that as long as I pay for consumables and material, and do it on my own time that he didn't want anything. He said very clearly and emphatically that he absolutely would not be the one to hold me back.

That being said, I am going to start trying to "buy into" one or more of the machines that we don't use very often to build equity in them and be able to use them more when I want, rather than when they are open. Sky's the limit!

Hey Sharky... I deal with CNC guys all the time. My company is a supplier of machine tool components (e.g.: Tool Turrets for CNC Lathes, Indexing Tables, Automatic Tool Changers, and Static and Driven Tool Holder for CNC Lathes.)

Check out our websites...

Indexing Technologies Inc.

ITI Tooling Company Inc.

I don't know if you use our products, if you do let me know if you ever need anything.

One of our suppliers, SAUTER, is a German tool turret manufacturer that is known around the world as being the very best money can buy.
They are used, exclusivly, by compnaies like, DMG, Gildemeister, Gital, EMCO, and Daewoo just to name a few.

Also our tooling supplier, EWS, is the largest tool holder manufacturer in the world, producing static and driven tool holders for most of the worlds CNC lathes.

We use a lot of Bimu, Iscar, and Kennametal. Iscar has a three-sided turning tool that is coated and has a .016 nose radius - I LOVE this turning tool - tough as hell!

Thats great.

We will be at EASTEC. we have two booths - Indexing Technologies - Booth # 5667 and ITI Tooling Co. Inc. - Booth # 5769

Looks like we have the same customers.
We used to sell ROTOMORS Chucks from Itlay and FAEMAT Electro Spindles also from Italy but we droped them a few years ago. I guess we were competitors at one time.

Are you guy going to be at EASTEC?

looks cool, have you considered more environment friendly packaging or not using any little baggies at all?

I read once that the plastic based warm weather jackets made in 1 year or some period of time could cover the entire surface of the earth 1 mile deep and we have no way to recycle them at this time. Point being that I want to encourage more sustainable living and recycling.

I also remember when I was living in Europe. We had a little tiny trash can and emptied it once a week or so. Here in the USA we empty a huge trash can every day and over fill all of our green waste trash cans with recycleable materials as well as overflow the blue recycle trash can mainly because of over packaging. It's amazing the amount of waste one middle-class family in the USA produces in a single day. Is a large part of this waste being recycled in the USA? No.

I was also recently in Sweden and they had multiple different recycle trash cans inside their homes, one recycle trash can for each type of recycleable material - glass, paper, plastic, etc. Very nice.

Spacers?

The packaging - I know, I though of the same thing. It's a constant battle between not wanting to waste and wanting to present my products in the most professional way possible. Especially the threaded stuff, don't want any dinged threads in shipping.......

what about sourcing some sustainable bamboo or filler cardboard to wrap around the threads like a cofee cup liner at starbucks? makes me think of a miniature toilet paper roll.
