want advice on getting a 968
Hi!
I have been running a 964 for some years and now would like to get a 968 coupe for my wife. We saw a blue colour one (1992 coupe blue with leather interior)yesterday and it seemed to be in good condition.
Is there anything that I should pay special attention before handing off the money??
Much appreciated.

Not sure about anything 968 specific, but as with all this series ask about when the timing/balance shaft belts were done. Also the waterpump as well. How many miles were on it? Shifters tend to be sloppy but all thats needed is a new lever. Sometimes the plastic sunroof gears are broken but they aren't that expensive either.

Thanks! it's a tiptronic model and no sunroof, so I shall check if the belts nad teh water pump were replaced.
Ah! It has done only 76K. Seems to be very well cared of!

Eddy, the models with sunroof delete are very rare. I'd like to buy that car if it were here in California! 968s with the tiptronic transmission are very good cars. The transmission is well made and usually lasts a long time.
968s with the 6-speed have ring&pinion issues in the transmission, but this tiptronic will have no such problem. 76k miles is quite low - that can be good or bad. Make sure the engine doesn't leak too much. If it does, it should be easy to fix though.
One important thing on all 968s is the condition of the VarioCam. Specifically, the cam sprockets, the cam chain, and the cam chain tensioner pads. Also, the heater control valve was located above the exhaust manifold, near the oil filter, where it gets very hot, and the valve is made out of plastic, so this valve frequently melts and breaks. It is suggested to replace it with a compatible metal part for an Audi. Good luck!
