Default What size wheels for 968??

What size came stock on the 1994 968's.

I drove one with 18" Cup wheels and there was a howilng sound when driving it, is that common? They looked almost too big, with 255's on the rear and 225's up front.

I have the feeling they came out with 16inch cup wheels and 205 front 225 rear tyres.

those who had the M030 sport pack they came out with 17inch cup wheels and 225 front 245 rear tyres

Standard fare was 16x7 and 16x8 (F/R) You could get 17x7.5 and 17x9 optionally as part of the M030 or separately. I have the 17's on mine, but without the M030.
I don't hear any howling, but that's mostly a factor of the tire design. The ride is pretty brutal; although some of the folks on other forums advocate running a few PSI less pressure to improve the ride. I haven't tried that yet as my car is still hibernating.
If you heard the howling on overrun (i.e. coast down) and it is reduced or goes away on acceleration, it's probably the infamous pinion bearing problem in the tranny...

What offsets fit the 968's?

By the way, I just bought a 94 Coupe I'm thinking about going to a 17" wheel bacause I don't like the 18" Cup II's on it.

Nice buy! (rule number one.... pics pics pics!! )

As far as the wheel offset this is what i have:

Wheels = Front -7.5x17 / Rear - 9x17
Offset = Front - 65mm / Rear - 55mm

Tires = Front - 225/45 17 / Rear - 255/40 17
