I'm sticking with my original theory: it doesn't belong to the car.

I can't think of any other place, other than exhaust studs and exhaust flanges where Porsche used those flange nuts (as opposed to nuts and washers). I've taken my car, and parts cars, completely apart, and never seen that -- other people have said the same.

If it did come from the car, it was some aftermarket, perhaps cheesy, fix done by a prior mechanic.

Does the car start up? Does it drive? Do you hear any major clunking? If the answers are yes, yes, no, then just throw that part out and consider it a "weight savings."
