How is that car not worth $6? Cosmetic stuff aside, it seems to be in good mechanical order...

(not trying to ruin your buy lart, but just curious if I'm missing something)

do the math my men, paint job , upholstery work including a new dash plus the odometer not working.

A good paint job = $ 2500.00+
Recover seats = $ 500.00
New dash = $ 400.00 + labor to install $ 300.00
Plus the fact the car is a TMU =True miles unknown

I have bought cars with less miles better paint and interior for less still parted them , lol.

Lart: Thanks for the offer, although I will hold off for a while.

I think it's silly to factor in the paint job & new dash - after all, who would really do this? Likewise only 1 seat needs to be recovered or replaced. It's not like it's an old Ferrari that someone is trying to restore to concourse condition. It's an old and fairly cheap Porsche! This car is meant for driving, not looking at. That being said, it sure looked nice out on the street this morning:

The TMU is a problem, but I'm sure many porsches with failure-prone odo gears have had broken odos for some undisclosed period of time. My dad's 928S was without a working odo for about 300 miles, until I could finally get around to fixing it. Some people might wait longer, like 500mi, some people get it fixed right away, like 10mi. Either way the "true mileage" is unknown. I think it's also important to consider things like oil pressure, compression, list of new parts, visual inspection of components, etc.

That's just IMHO, anyway .

Even with TMU, personally I think you can fetch $6k if you take care of the easy-to-do cosmetic issues (dash, seats, broken parts) -- but paint isn't worthwhile doing. Between all the various parts we have lying around, it shouldn't cost too much to do. You've done the mechanicals since you got the car -- one more push to do the cosmetics.

I'd focus your sales energy on the '83, and take this car with you to MN (if your wife would allow it )

^ But that car could have easily gone for more. I realize they do sell for that cheap, its just that the sellers of a lot of these cars could get a lot more if they simply had the time to wait for the right buyer to come along. (like me buying my car, or Keith selling his 944) That and you need to stop parting working cars.

What do you do with all of them anyways? Ebay?

They go like sheep to the slaughter house

This car could be a organ donor to keep a better car alive.

Wish I could wait around for the right buyer! Unfortunately i'm moving across the country and really don't want to take it with me. Thus i've updated the price.
