I have not tried to install the old sensors, the connectors crumbled when I went to inspect them, hence the new senors. I did not move the bracket, yet....

I am picking up two more sensores tomorrow morning to try, who know maybe the length is ever so slighltly different???

If that fails, I will attempt again to remove the last bolt from the bracket and see if I can gap them...

Anyone know where I can get a cheap scope??

Cheers

Do you have all of the parts installed? See pic. You may or may not have the sleeve (#31) on the flywheel sensor ( I don't recall having one on my car).

You don't need much of a scope for this sort of work, 10MHz or less should do nicely.

I'm going to say it's probably something stupid simple. I've been in troubleshooting situations where it's easy to get carried away by digging way too deep.

By sleeve, I assume you mean #31? I will check, it never came out with the old sensor so... I will check in the morning. I am drinking now.........

More than likely it is something simple, I agree.

Thanks

Im gonna go out on a limb here but have you checked your grounds.

My friends 951 died after turning it off to get gas, it had fuel but no spark. The negative battery cable wasnt tightened down, pulled it off tightened it down and the car started up.

I think the answer is obvious, you are having a drink, and you did not offer the car a drink. It is mad at you. It'll get over it...

LOL, however I offered it plenty of blood of my knuckles today... and I told it that if it was nice to me I would not cut it into pieces with the sawzall and sell all off its parts.....

When I get it running I will be in touch with you Russell about some of your chips...

Cheers

did you when you pulled the sensors put the shim under the one sensor? There is a washer that sits under one sensor #32 on the picture

Check to see if your rotor has continuity with anything grounded on your car. A messed up rotor that is grounded will cause a no spark scenario.

Go down to a TV repair shop and tell the guy you will buy him (fill in blank) if he comes down to the car with his scope and looks at the signals. It should take less then 10 minutes. I use small solid wire warp wires for the connections to the scope. Just put the wire into the cup and plug it in to the mate. The wire is so small it will not effect the fit of the plug.

Okay, so I take most of the day to get the damn sensor bracket loose and re gap my second set of new sensors, no change...

Then following loren's advice from another thread I jumper pins 9 and 16 on the KLR and I have spark!!!

So I guess I need to check the wires between the KLR and the DME that send iginiton signals back and forth.

Yes, celebaratory drinking is in order.

Any one care to tell me which wires I need to look at. I have both diagrams in my workshop manual so I should be able to figure it out.....

Oh by the way, there will be two new reference sensors (BMW part numbers) thrown in if you are the first to take advantage of the wheel offer!!

Cheers
