Default What carrier do you use to ship the big stuff?

I am needing to ship engines and transmissions and can't find anything reasonable. Just a couple of states away is $350 for UPS freight. Anyone know of anything better?

I used freightquote.com for an engine last month. $200. 600 miles.

Standard LTL freight rates are a total joke. It is not uncommon for companies to get discounts over 60%... freightquote.com probably a good option so you get some discount at least.

Forward Air, I use them to ship engines, seats, body panels you name it. Great prices, everything goes on a pallet and is never touched by hand. They usually wrap everything nicely with that clear shrink wrap stuff.

I used them to ship a BMW 6 cyl. engine across the U.S. and it only cost me about $100.

Their site is www.forwardair.com
