Default Early intake on late car

Can this be done? And if so, what hose do I need to go from the ICV to the intake?

any issues with running an early intake on a late car?

New powder coated intake looks great, would like to keep it.

Is there a benefit to one over the other? Or are they identical?

I have an 84, I assume that means that mine is an "early" one?

Yep, from my experience, it could be done, but it is a PITA. I did not have a good early hose (parts car's hose is shot) and I did not want to order an $80 part just to try it out. Otherwise you'd have to make a hose, but the end's are different size (12 to 19mm IIRC) and it's a tight squeeze, so even that would be a pain. Just went through this whole episode as I said in the other thread.

So in the end, I just went out and got another late intake, and sold my early one to sharky. Once you get it right, it's no issue whatsoever. I don't know if it would be easier to make a late intake work on an early car since I haven't played with the idle stablizer on the early cars yet.

You have an 84, that's an EARLY car. The break to the late intake would have been 85.5, as I had the late model intake on my 87. As the other guys said, the only difference is in the location of the one nipple.

i guess you sent your core intake to get powder coated and they sent you a precoated intake that was of an early car? i'd call the company and ask for them to swap it out for a late one... sucks man.

So does anyone want a blue early intake? Sounds like I would have to make some mods and would rather not do that if I dont have to.
