Default Thermostat?

Since I have the radiator out of the car I figured Id replace the thermostat. Ive got the new one in with a new gasket. I reinstalled the snap ring, but it doesnt really look like its seated very well in the wp housing. Its kind of tough to see in there so I cant tell if I put it back correctly. There is a little play in the thermostat (Can wiggle side to side) but it wouldnt come out when I gave it a tug. Does this sound right? Or should I get back in there, LOL. Thanks in advance!!

Note there are two different gaskets. The thermostat I bought from a local parts store came with the wrong one and i had the same issue.

I ordered the proper one online and got a box with two gaskets... I needed the thicker one and it solved the problem.

Good luck!

A little dental mirror is great for things like this.

hmm.... I did compare the new gasket to the old one and they looked the same. Maybe Ill try installing the old gasket just to see. My thermostat (Wahler brand) came with a gasket and the store sold me a seperate one, but i think I trashed it since thethermostat came with one. Time to start looking.
