This was unsavory enough for me when I tore it down.

Whoa, Steve, what the hell was up with that motor? That oil pan looks like a bowl of grape nuts.

It was the take out motor from the Silver car. Spun #2 at 6200 rpm, bent #2 rod, ruined crank, and scored #3?...other than that it will buff right out. The bearing pieces are what I pulled from the lower pan and placed on the splash shield. It will be a cheap donor block for a re-sleeve or +2 overbore if anyone needs one.

The recent experience of "johntorg" on his thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/405658-dodged-a-bullet-timing-belt-pics.html
reminded me of this thread so I thought I'd bring it back to life.

He bought the car and drove it home 1000 miles, then checked the belts just to be thorough...

My $500 83 parts car... 17yo PO crashed it into a ditch. He fixed the front suspension up, and then the timing belt blew. Took out 5 valves... and this is what the inside looked like.

Good investment. That's Wipeout there helping me part that sucker out.

[QUOTE=tifosiman;3855679]Boy, "unsavory" can mean so many things.

Sir, I'm sorry, your 944 is emitting an unsavory amount of radiation.

What, this waterproofing isn't "factory"?

My dad has an awesome set of tools.

I got dibbs on the...err..aaahh....ummm....rear hatch shocks
