Default Unknown wire broken - knock sensor?

Im sorry I dont have any pictures to post but Ill do my best to explain this wire. It is a white w/ yellow stripe that is shielded and runs down in a bundle with the two wires to the oil pressure sending unit.
So the 3 wire bundle that goes to the oil pressure sending unit contains the two wires to the oil pressure sending unit (blue and blue and white) and this third unknown -- yellow and white shielded wire. It is torn completly in two and I cannot find where it went. - Perhaps since its shielded in could be a knock sensor wire? Any help would be great.

The motor is a 1988 944 8v N/A that went in the 924S. Thanks to anyone who can tell me!

Oil level sender wire. Should be shielded with a solid yellow jacket and maybe a black one on top of that. Check the oil pan on the passenger side to the left and above the oil drain plug. You should see a triangular metal plate attached to the pan with three screws and a black plug coming from the center...or maybe the plug is gone. Nonetheless, a wire should be coming from the level sender and it is routed with the oil pressure sender wires.

where does the oil level sending wire go? the unit that reads the oil pressure only has 2 connection . both are blue. I am guessing the unit is in series with the gauge. The problem I am having is the oil level light is on . is there a test to see if the unit is good or bad? If so where is a good place to look for a bad wire?
thanks sim

For the wiring, one is blue, and the other is probably blue with a black stripe; it's probably pretty hard to see.

I think that for the oil level sender, it's just a float at the end of a long shaft. It's hard to check the function without removing it but, if you do, you can connect the wiring to it and move the float up and down to see if that changes the light activation or not.

Good luck

I did replace it with a used one. I will try that . I am guessing that low oil light is activated by the computer .. I did a voltage test with the wire at the sensor and got 0 volts with the car running
