I'm thinking of putting a set of Kumho ECSTA MX's on my stock 93 968 coupe. Tire sizes are:
225/45zr17 front
255/40zr17 rear
They seem to be an awesome tire - i was looking at either these or the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's.
Comments? Suggestions?

I've had them for a few years now (275 and 255 18's) and they're decent. They get a bit greasier on extended track runs then I prefer but are much better then the ES100's. They wear very well compared to my old SO3's but are slightly less grippier.

I used them on my GTI. They handle heat better than the other street tires Ive used on track. They like to be hot. Dry grip is great, wet grip is ok but they dont do so well with standing water. The goodyear is a better wet tire, but it has a softer sidewall. They can get loud as they wear in but my GTI is loud so I never noticed. You cant beat the pricee either.

The goodyears are a far better tire than the MX. One of the best pure summer tires along with the PS2's, S03's, etc.
That said, I've used the MX's to great effect on the track and street. I think they're great bang for the buck. Their wet traction isn't nearly as good as an S03, as someone noted above, but in dry weather they're 90% of the best summer tires.
