Default Stock Porsche 944 Muffler???

Hey guys, I hope you don't mind but this is a hair off topic. I have a 2006 Pontiac Solstice that I purchased new in December of 2005. I've done a few modifications to it, and the engine has responded very well. A ceramic coated / tubular exhaust header, a hi-flow catalytic converter, a larger throttle body, and a cold air intake system. The complete exhaust AFT of the cat is stock. With all of the modifications I've made, the car REALLY does scream from a dead stop. I'm breaking into the high 14s on average with these modifications. BUT... the car sounds like a riced out Honda Civic. It's REALLY, really bad... and it's emberassing. It doesn't quite sound JUST like a 1.6 liter Honda motor with a "fart" tip, but it comes pretty close.

Now, I'm very impressed and happy with the sound that comes from my stock Porsche 944 exhaust. (1984 year). Somehow, Porsche has managed to build an NA 4 cyl, make the entire system fairly free-flowing, and yet still maintain a very respectable exhuast note. Granted, the entire car is more refined, but... I'm wondering if there's any possibility that I might be able to use a Porsche 944 muffler on my Solstice? I'm really looking for some help or advice. Do you think it might be because of the cold air intake? Or do you think it's the stock muffler? What is it about the Porsche 944's muffler that is free-flowing, yet still low-key?

Thanks!

if you read the "muffler" thread this is going on right now, someone posted something about the stock exhaust being a pretty straight-through design and that moving to something like a borla or flowmaster wasn't really going to help HP or anything. So I would say it's worth a shot if that is the case and if you can get one cheap off a wreck and weld it in.

Go for it. It's just a matter of "will the muffler fit under the car with the room alotted"?
